The Man Who Mastered Absolute Zero

Leonard Snart is this man. You may be asking who he is? Well, he’s been on a good number of teams. Most noticably: The Injustice Gang, The Flash Rogues, The Secret Society, and the Suicide Squad.

Still don’t know who he is?

Well, he’s Captain Cold! Duh! Okay, so maybe you still don’t know who he is even if he’s the current Leader of the Rouges.

What I know about our Captain is that he hasn’t changed his look for over fifty years (in the comics). His primary weapon is his cold-gun and has this little gadget that projects and condenses large quantities of water from the air that producing ice. That’s my little verbose to say, “ICE GUN”.

Anyway, he’s had only one version before in the VS System Card game. His older version slowed you down, but only at a small cost. It got the general gist of him. For those who don’t remember or know about his Secret Society three drop from DC’s Justice League Expansion, here ya go!

If you don’t feel like clicking the link, it states:

Captain Cold comes into play with a +1 ATK / +1 DEF counter on him.

Remove a +1 ATK / +1 DEF counter from Captain Cold >>> Exhaust target character. Use this power only during your attack step.

Considering he was written for the Flash(es), he’s always wanting to slow down that man (Barry Allen<>Flash in particular). So, how does/will he do it now? (In VS?) Well in appearance, Ruthlessly.

This guy let’s your exhausted characters take a punch a little better. This shows he has a soft side and here he’s helping his team out! Heck, he’s even done it to off team characters like that time he sent his condolances to Elongated Man by sending Sue Dinbey flowers (Identity Crisis-READ IT!). He’s even fond of the new Captain Boomerang (who runs kinda like the Flash, mind you. But that’s another story…).

Of course, that will always be overlooked as he is Captain Cold. A seemingly a heartless monster (or a real softy, you decide!). You see, you as a player take some damage, but you are exhausting their board and not just for one turn either! Hrmm.

Well, he does more you see:

Remeber me saying he does nice things. Well yeah, if your his sister, or he likes you. But Women, Money, and the Flash make him a really different person. Drug users too. He’ll beat you to a bloody pulp for doing drugs. Drugs are bad, even for baddies. Mmkay.

Well, imagine combining this on turn 6 to lock down your opponent’s board? Sure there is a chance bigger drops come out, but anything smaller than 5 on six is done for. This could defiantly stop your opponent. Keeping a build modern, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a deck running Cold packing plenty of Dirty tricks (and Empire’s Ends) only to stall for an unlikely ally…. Like perhaps the DCL 7 drop Koriand’r<>Starfire?

Will Captain Cold’s chilling actions be devastating enough from this combo? On it’s own, probably not, but with the help of his Rogues and/or others, I’m sure there is something in store! We just have to see more from this Legend and his team(s).

You, just like I, will just have to Chill Out* and wait!

*Sure, it was the Schwartz, sure it’s Mr. Freeze, but how could I not?
